A Gorgeous and Long-Lasting Design with Groundbreaking Battery Life
iPhone 16e is designed to last, with splash, water, and dust resistance rated IP68; the Ceramic Shield front with a new formulation that is more durable than any smartphone glass; and the most durable back glass in a smartphone.2 The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology boasts an edge-to-edge design ideal for viewing HDR videos, playing games, and reading sharp text.3 iPhone 16e boasts the longest battery life ever on a 6.1-inch iPhone, lasting up to six hours longer than iPhone 11 and up to 12 hours longer than all iPhone SE generations.4 And with Face ID enabled by the TrueDepth camera system, users can securely unlock their iPhone, authenticate purchases, sign in to apps, and more. iPhone 16e also offers convenient charging options, including both wireless charging and USB-C for easy connection to a wide range of accessories.
Performance and Connectivity
iPhone 16e is driven by Apple’s new-generation A18 chip, which allows for fast, seamless performance, stunning power efficiency, and Apple Intelligence. The 6-core CPU is up to 80 percent faster than the A13 Bionic chip on iPhone 11, smoothly managing both common and demanding tasks — from basic workloads, to more intensive actions with Apple Intelligence. The 4-core GPU delivers breathtaking graphics performance and unlocks mobile gaming on the next level while on the move, supporting graphically intensive AAA games and hardware-accelerated ray tracing for more natural lighting and reflections. The 16-core Neural Engine is also tuned for massive generative models and executes machine learning (ML) models 6x faster than A13 Bionic.
Designed for Apple Intelligence
iPhone 16e is designed with Apple Intelligence to open up exhilarating new abilities that make iPhone more useful and capable. Distracting details in photos are easily eliminated using the Clean Up feature, while natural language searching within the Photos app enables them to search for nearly any image or video just by telling them what they need to find.
Users can also discover innovative new ways to represent themselves visually with Image Playground, design the ideal emoji with Genmoi, and enhance their writing even further with Writing Tools. They can now type to Siri, and Siri is more chatty with the option to keep up if users get tongue-tied. Siri can also keep context from one request to the next. With its deep knowledge of products, Siri can respond to thousands of questions regarding the features and settings of Apple devices, so that users can discover how to do things such as take a screen recording or schedule a text message to be sent later.
With ChatGPT available directly in Writing Tools and Siri, users can opt to tap into ChatGPT’s knowledge without switching apps, allowing them to accomplish more quickly and easily than ever before. Also, users are able to use ChatGPT for free without signing up, and privacy features are integrated in — their IP addresses are not exposed and OpenAI won’t retain requests. Users have the option to turn on ChatGPT integration, and are completely in charge of when to utilize it and what data is transmitted to ChatGPT.
Apple Intelligence is a remarkable leap ahead for AI privacy and is built to safeguard users’ privacy at each step. It begins with on-device processing, so many of the models that drive Apple Inteligence run completely on device. For requests that need access to larger models, Apple’s innovative Private Cloud Compute takes the privacy and security of iPhone into the cloud to unlock even greater intelligence. When Private Cloud Compute is used, the users’ data isn’t stored or kept by Apple, but is instead used solely to complete their request.
Gain Access to Favorite Features and Unleash Visual Intelligence with the Action Button
iPhone 16e has the Action button, with which users can quickly access multiple functions with one press. The Action button can be configured in Settings and, once done so, used to instantly launch the camera or flashlight; toggle between Ring and Silent modes; identify music using Shazam; enable Voice Memos, Focus, Translate, and accessibility tools such as Magnifier; or Shortcuts for more. The Action button can even invoke in-app features such as opening the camera in Snapchat, opening a car door with FordPass, monitoring a child’s sleep pattern with Napper, and so on.
The Action button on iPhone 16e also unlocks a new visual intelligence experience based on Apple Intelligence to enable users to learn about things and locations. Visual intelligence can summarize and duplicate text, translate text from one language to another, identify phone numbers or email addresses with an option to add to contacts, recognize an animal or plant, and more. Visual intelligence also enables users to Google search so that they can visualize where they are able to purchase an item, or take advantage of ChatGPT’s problem-solving abilities. Users have control over when third-party tools are employed and what information is given.
An Effective Camera System to Freeze Any Moment
The advanced 2-in-1 camera system of iPhone 16e is ideal for shooting everyday moments and significant memories, such as in Night mode and Portrait mode. Leveraging computational photography, the 48MP Fusion camera shoots super-high-resolution images, allowing users to take stunning photos with great light and detail balance. With its built-in 2x Telephoto, everyone gets two cameras in one and can capture optically enhanced close-ups for proximity to a subject and seamless framing of shots. And with the front camera featuring TrueDepth camera with autofocus, there’s always sharper close-up shots and gorgeous group self-portraits. The newest generation of HDR records subjects and the background with lifelike renderings of skin tones and guarantees photos to have bright highlights, rich mid-tones, and deep shadows.
iPhone 16e shoots great videos with capability to shoot 4K in Dolby Vision up to 60 fps, and one can pause and resume a recording to have more choice while shooting. iPhone 16e also films video in Spatial Audio to have a rich sound when playing through AirPods, Apple Vision Pro, or a home theatre system, and provides more editing options for sound of a video with Audio Mix. Users can fine-tune their sound after recording to emphasize the voice of the subject on camera, give the impression that the video was shot within a professional studio, or place vocal tracks in front and ambient sounds in surround. With wind noise reduction, advanced ML algorithms automatically eliminate unwanted noise for improved audio quality.
Groundbreaking Safety and Communication Capabilities
iPhone 16e keeps users connected and gets them help when they need it most. Apple’s satellite capabilities enable users to text over satellite when they are out of cellular and Wi-Fi range. These include Messages over satellite to text loved ones; Emergency SOS over satellite to call emergency services; and Roadside Assistance over satellite to call a roadside assistance service in the event of a car breakdown. Users can also use the Find My app to share their location using satellite, making friends and family aware of where they are while traveling off the grid. Crash Detection on iPhone 16e is able to detect a bad car crash and automatically call emergency services if a user is knocked out or unable to access their iPhone.
Featuring iOS 18
iOS 18 makes iPhone 16e more personal, capable, and intelligent than ever.6 With greater customization, users can give apps and widgets a fresh dark or tinted appearance and place them anywhere in an open area on the Home Screen. Bottom-level controls can be personalized; Control Center has been reimagined to give people more direct access to many of the things they use daily, including third-party apps; and new privacy protections include the lock and hide function to safeguard sensitive apps and what’s stored inside them. iOS 18 also offers robust features for staying in touch. In Messages, users can use text effects to bring words, phrases, sentences, and more to life. Tapbacks expand to include emoji, Genmoji, or stickers, and now users can schedule a message to send later. When messaging contacts who do not have an Apple device, the Messages app now supports RCS for richer media and more reliable group messaging when compared to SMS and MMS.
Good for the Environment
iPhone 16e is also environmentally friendly. As Apple 2030, Apple’s ambitious objective to be carbon neutral for its entire carbon footprint by the end of this decade, Apple is making a move to renewable electricity powering its manufacturing and investment in wind and solar projects globally to meet the electricity to charge all Apple products, including iPhone 16e. Now, all of Apple’s facilities operate on 100 percent renewable power — including the data centers that support Apple Intelligence.
To reach Apple 2030, the company is creating products using more recycled and renewable materials, further reducing the carbon footprint. iPhone 16e has more than 30 percent recycled content across the board, such as 100 percent recycled cobalt and 95 percent recycled lithium in the battery, 85 percent recycled aluminum in the enclosure, and so on.7 Moreover, iPhone 16e’s primary logic board and back glass are constructed to be more efficiently made, which slashes raw materials requirements. The packaging itself is also fully fiber-based, getting Apple one step closer to eliminating plastic from its packaging by the end of this year.
