Dear Younger Me: A Letter to My Pre-Teen Self
Dear Younger Me,
Hey, buddy!
Hey, it’s me … or rather you, only older, much older, a few years, and hopefully, a bit more profound. I think life is unclear at this very moment, but you’re not as terrible as you may seem. It seems most preteen girls’ problems revolve around one thing and come during this phase when one is in the 6 th grade, and that thing is called puberty. It is like go for a thrilling roller coaster ride without actually wearing any seat belt Most Often, isn’t it? Well, sit back, relax, let me motivate you, and give you a big pat on the back as I share some tips with you.
First, let’s discuss those changes that you experience.
Yes, your voice is cracking, your emotions are all over the place, and maybe you’re starting to feel like an alien in your own body. That’s normal, completely, 100 percent normal. It happens to every guy and they wouldn’t discuss it with anyone. It’s your body’s way of transforming you into the great young chap everybody expects of you. Thus, accept them even if they are as uncomfortable as walking on eggshells. Because they are a part of your story and they will only make you more resilient.
Now, about friends.
You find yourself thinking that there is a correct way which people expect you to behave in order to be accepted. Here’s the secret: the ones that count will like you for who you are. It doesn’t matter if you’re nice, if it’s the truth, and if it’s absurd. Weird is cool! So, when you come across people who share a good laugh with you and not at your expense, understand this – they are precious.
Let’s not forget school.
Now, you must be working hard to excel in every exam and make everyone happy. It is good to dream big, it is perfectly alright if one falls flat sometimes. It is an important signal that first, and only through error, human beings reach for the heights of success. Try, call out when you need support, and don’t let a poor mark define you as anything less than enough. There’s more to you than an A or B—You are given the ability to reason, to innovate, to act.
Speaking of dreams.
Never give up on them. You think you want to grow up to be a soccer player, an inventor, an artist, who knows, something yet undiscovered, your dreams count. They are unique ideas – plant them through desire and the desire to work, sit back and wait for the tree to sprout. You succeed because you have time and talents, stop allowing anyone to let those truths slip from your mind.
Now, let’s discuss you.
A wonderful, polite, inquisitive child reading this letter all eagerly. You are enough, just the way you are, and there is nothing wrong with being a bit more selfish sometimes. Of course, you’ll find oneself with hard days when it seems to everyone that nothing is going well with you, but it’s Those days will pass. Living day by day, you will become stronger, smarter, more confident – with every problem that you meet. Also, sitting and speaking remember is okay to go and seek assistance from the family, teachers or friends. No one is able to guarantee that you will know all that you are obligated to do.
Well then, come on, breathe deeper, young self. What a ride it is to be alive and living, you are becoming that great person you are destined to be. So take it, keep being you, keep dreaming big, and keep moving on. The future is bright and it expects you the same and to shine.
With all my heart,
Your Older Self
