The brilliant director and writer David Lynch, who changed the American cinema and television with his cynical and surreally distorted movie art, has died from cancer at 78. Lynch diagnosed with emphysema in 2024, discharged from the position of a director because of the illness, died surrounded by family members. His testimony was posted on Facebook by his family where it was noted, “To say that there is a huge gap in the world that he is gone will not be an embellishment. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’

One of the most iconic directors who actually changed the face of movies and television with movies such as ‘Blue Velvet’, ‘Lost Highway’, and  ‘Mulholland Drive’ Lynch is. The TV shows and movies that he directed gave an audience a clue about his method of telling various stories; the multidimensional narratives in his works, which are a mixture of horror, film noir, whodunit, and classical European surrealism. Once again, the creativity referred to here is represented in the Spanish artist, Luis Bunuel, and clever way that the artist constructed stories to unfold according to concepts that could only be explained by magic.

Right from the beginning of his successful career Lynch had the audacity to even try to explore the subliminal, and his pieces are as impactful today as they have ever been. In tribute to David Lynch, the world will know him as the creator of some of the most thought-provoking and evocative pieces in motion picture /television history.
