The Rise and Decline of Vexbolts

Sometimes there has been a push to unfollow an account and this alone has given that account a boost. This is what’s happening. Currently, there is a TikTok unfollowing spree in the spirit of “get Vexbolts out of 2024” — and this is what audience engagement looks like. 7 million more people have joined the Vexbolts account so we can all unfollow this guy at midnight and the start of 2025. Technically, the event will start right at the stroke of midnight by eastern USA time but as it turns one in different parts of the world, two million plus users have already stopped following Vexbolts.

Since creating TikTok in 2021, Vexbolts has returned to creating viral content online, with approximately 1.5 million followers.The past week, however, saw am increase in followers when the internet convened to leave him in 2024. Is this all just some kind of PR exercise or publicity? e of PR? Yep. Overall, the creator economy is the billion dollar business and that’s because of reach and engagement. Both of these are being used deliberately in this campaign to do more than just make Vexbolts not that guy that said “let him cook” one time. Currently, Vexbolts is in the range of hyper viral with giant organizations, sporting bodies and other brands getting on board.

Another recent series of videos has also starred the online mega star MrBeast, which is quite helpful because he clearly has some of his own snack products on the bench and in frame for tens of millions of viewers consuming these videos.

To have a group of people whose attention is focused on the content is something that is every advertiser’s dream. Whether Vexbolts does or does not lose most or all of his followers makes little difference — The message behind this though I believe is that it cannot be overemphasized just how effective such mass online activations are and the advertisers and businesses of the world that targeting Gen Z’s, millenials, and gen alpha ( yes whoever made them up is a genius) should take note of as we dive into a new year.
