Superman is an upcoming American superhero film based on DC Comics featuring the titular character. It is a product of DC Studios and is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It will be the first film in the DC Universe (DCU) and a reboot of the Superman film series. The film is penning and directing by James Gunn. David Corenswet plays Clark Kent / Superman, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell. The motion picture covers the journey of this superhero character to reconcile his family, his human heritage that is.

Development on a sequel to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film Man of Steel (2013) began by October 2014, with Henry Cavill set to reprise his role as Superman. Following the troubled production of Justice League (2017), the sequel of Man of Steel was scrapped and no longer being developed, by May 2020. Gunn was working on a new Superman film come August 2022. In October, he formed DC Studios alongside producer Peter Safran and commenced work on an all-new DC Universe. Gunn became known to pen the film when he was officially confirmed in December. Title announced as Superman: Legacy March 2023: confirmed Gunn to be the director; June that year saw casting of Corenswet and Brosnahan

Subtitle dropped in the closing days of February 2024, which is also when filming was set in Norway. Location shooting will be done mostly in and around Georgia, while production will be on Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Filming has finished in July. The film is inspired by the comic book All-Star Superman (2005–2008) by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, among others.

Superman is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on July 11, 2025. It will be the first film of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
